Shimmer and Glow (January 16, 2021)

This is a new oil painting from the northeastern perspective of the Cumberland River as it curves toward the nocturnal Nashville skyline. I will be painting in a very basic outline of the river, lights, and urban architecture. Placing the horizon line about 1/3 below the top of the round canvas, tends to make a more interesting composition because the visual elements of water, land, and sky fill the canvas in an asymmetrical manner. The title of the painting is "Shimmer and Glow" referring to the buildings' flickering lights that cast reflections over the winding river.
