Sometimes there is something in the painting that is just bothering me. After living with the previous work, I go in and make adjustments to show a gradation from the upper darker clouds to the warmer salmon colored horizon line at the sunset. Using a mixture of ultramarine blue, permanent alizarin crimson and a little titanium white, I continue to evaluate the color and apply to the canvas with the clouds becoming lighter near the horizon.
