In this session of the oil painting, "Berlin Along the Spree", I am filling in the water of the river in the lower section of the canvas. This is accomplished with a mixture of large amounts of French Ultramarine Blue, Permanent Alizarin Crimson, and a little Titanium White straight from the tubes. Reflections in the water are created by adding more Titanium White to the mixture. Shadows are made by more French Ultramarine Blue and a little Permanent Alizarin Crimson. Using imagery from my past travels to Europe as subjects for painting projects, gives me a sense of an escape to unknown and intriguing territory.
